New Dacia Striker Unveiled

“Some customers think that driving an SUV is not as pleasant as a hatch or a wagon. [Such] propositions have a better balance between driveability, efficiency and space,” stated Frank Marotte, Dacia’s sales boss, highlighting the brand’s commitment to enhancing the driving experience with its latest model.

The new Dacia Striker is designed to be more satisfying to drive than its predecessor, the Bigster. It will feature a range of hybrid engines, including the most fuel-efficient variant that runs on the Hybrid 155 system, which combines a 1.8-litre petrol engine with a 49bhp electric motor, yielding a total of 153bhp and 170Nm of torque.

In addition, Dacia is rolling out a new hybrid four-wheel drive system called Hybrid 150. This system integrates a mild-hybrid setup with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and an additional rear electric motor, further enhancing the vehicle’s performance.

The Striker is expected to be longer than the Bigster, measuring 4.65 meters, and will be offered with optional all-wheel drive. Dacia aims to grow its mid-size car sales from one-fifth to one-third of its total volume, making the Striker a key player in this strategy.

Pricing for the Striker is anticipated to start around £25,000 in the UK and below €25,000 in Europe, approximately £21.6k. This competitive pricing is expected to attract a wide range of customers looking for value.

Dacia is positioning the Striker as an “unexpected and dynamic crossover,” aiming to carve out a credible presence in the C-segment. The brand has already begun deliveries of the Bigster, which started in July 2025, indicating a strong push into the mid-size market.

Features of the Striker will include a full-length glass roof and a familiar steering wheel design, appealing to those who appreciate both aesthetics and functionality.

Dacia’s new model name, Striker, is intended to convey the idea of “hitting the mark,” aligning with the brand’s philosophy of practical and value-focused vehicles.

As Dacia prepares for the launch of the Striker, it plans to introduce four new all-electric models by 2030, including a compact city car, further expanding its lineup.

Dacia will hope the attractive Striker has the appeal to make an impact here – and everywhere else, as it continues to build on its successful brand identity.
