This database, linked to IDMerit, an AI-powered digital identity verification provider, was left unsecured, allowing anyone with knowledge of its location to access it. The exposed records included a wide range of personally identifiable information (PII), such as full names, home addresses, dates of birth, and more. Researchers discovered the unsecured database on November 11, 2025, and promptly notified IDMerit, which secured the database shortly thereafter. As of now, there is no evidence that the data was accessed by malicious actors.

The implications of this data exposure are significant. The information compromised can be easily searched and exploited due to its structured nature. The breakdown of exposed records by country reveals that the United States had approximately 204 million records, followed by Mexico with around 204 million, and the Philippines with about 123 million.
