<p>The Employment Rights Act 2025 introduces significant changes to union recognition and workers&#8217; rights, set to take effect on April 6, 2026. <p>Previously, unions were required to demonstrate that at least 40% of workers in a proposed bargaining unit supported their recognition. Sharon Graham, leader of the Unite union, described Labour&#8217;s workers&#8217; rights plans as a &#8220;burnt out shell,&#8221; suggesting that the measures are significantly less robust than previously promised. She emphasized the growing difficulty in justifying affiliation with the Labour Party if it fails to support workers adequately.</p>
