Jack Colback Announces Retirement

Jack Colback has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 36. The midfielder concluded his career after making a total of 480 professional club appearances.

In his career, Colback made significant contributions to several clubs, including 135 appearances for Sunderland and 102 for Newcastle United. He also played 189 matches in the Premier League across Sunderland, Newcastle, and Nottingham Forest, scoring 9 goals and providing 11 assists.

Colback’s career highlights include being part of the Sunderland squad that reached the Carabao Cup final in the 2013-14 season and winning the Championship title with Newcastle United in the 2016-17 season. He joined Nottingham Forest initially on loan before making a permanent transfer in 2020.

In the summer of 2023, Colback joined Queens Park Rangers, where he made 53 appearances. Reflecting on his journey, Colback stated, “Today, I’m announcing my retirement from professional football. Colback was also capped once by England’s under-20s in 2009 and was called up to the senior England squad in August 2014, although he withdrew due to injury.
