kendamil infant formula recall — GB news

What Happened

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for Kendamil brand infant formula sold at Costco due to potential contamination with cereulide toxin. The affected products are one-kilogram containers of Kendamil Infant Formula with Whole Milk, manufactured on ‘2025 MA 01’ and best before ‘2027 MA 01’. The lot numbers involved in the recall are 897274 and 888632.

Why It Matters

Cereulide is a toxin produced by Bacillus cereus bacteria, which can cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhea. The toxin is heat stable, meaning it cannot be destroyed through cooking or preparation. Although no illnesses have been reported in connection with the consumption of this formula, the CFIA has advised consumers to refrain from using, selling, or distributing the recalled products.

What’s Next

Consumers who have purchased the affected Kendamil Infant Formula are urged to stop using it immediately. The CFIA recommends disposing of the product securely or returning it to the store where it was purchased. Further information can be found on the CFIA website, where images of the recalled items are also available.
