Tom Aspinall Signs with Eddie Hearn
Tom Aspinall has signed with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Talent Agency, becoming the first athlete to join the agency. This new commercial and advisory deal comes as Aspinall continues his recovery from double eye surgery.
Aspinall, aged 32, remains under contract with the UFC, despite this new partnership. He has expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “Eddie has built one of the biggest brands in sport and understands how to take athletes to the next level, both inside and outside of competition.”
With a total of eight wins in the UFC, seven of which ended in the first round, Aspinall has quickly established himself as a prominent figure in the heavyweight division. His last fight ended in a no-contest due to an eye poke, and he has been dealing with eye problems since his title fight with Ciryl Gane last October.
Eddie Hearn, who has publicly feuded with UFC president Dana White in the past, welcomed Aspinall to the team, stating, “Welcome to the team UFC heavyweight champ Tom Aspinall. Time to get what’s yours.” Hearn’s agency aims to nurture athletes’ careers by managing their brand and creating opportunities.
Despite the new signing, Dana White has indicated that he has no issues negotiating with anyone representing UFC fighters. Aspinall’s return date to fighting remains uncertain, and details about when he will be able to return to action remain unconfirmed.
