Guro Reiten Joins Gotham FC on Loan
Guro Reiten has officially left Chelsea FC to join Gotham FC on loan until her contract with Chelsea expires in July. This transfer marks the end of a successful six-year tenure at Chelsea, during which she won 13 trophies.
Reiten, who is now 31 years old, joined Chelsea in 2019 from LSK Kvinner. Throughout her time at Chelsea, she won the Women’s Super League title in each of her six seasons and scored 59 goals in 207 appearances.
After her loan period, Reiten is set to sign a deal with Gotham FC that will keep her at the club until 2029. This move is seen as a significant step in her career as she transitions to a new league.
Reiten has been a key player for the Norwegian women’s national team for over a decade, contributing 21 goals in 108 games. Her experience and skill are expected to make a substantial impact at Gotham FC.
In her own words, Reiten stated, “Everything has an end and this is my end here at Chelsea.” Her departure has been met with gratitude from Chelsea, with the club expressing their appreciation for her contributions over the years.
Yael Averbuch West, a representative from Gotham FC, praised Reiten, saying, “Guro is a player of exceptional quality who has consistently performed at the highest levels of the game.” This endorsement highlights the expectations surrounding her performance in the new environment.
Reiten’s history of success includes multiple league titles with LSK Kvinner and recognition as the Toppserien Player of the Year in 2018. Her ability to record double-digit goal contributions in multiple seasons showcases her talent and consistency.
As she prepares for this new chapter, Reiten expressed her excitement about joining Gotham FC, stating, “I’m really excited to join Gotham FC and grateful for the opportunity to be part of this club.” This enthusiasm reflects her readiness to embrace the challenges ahead.
Everyone at Chelsea would like to sincerely thank Guro for her huge contributions to our success over the last six and a half years. Her legacy at the club will be remembered fondly as she embarks on this new journey.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the specific terms of the loan agreement, but the football community is eager to see how Reiten will adapt to her new surroundings at Gotham FC.
